Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella
When I first got this book I was a bit apprehensive, I'd read a few chic light reads like this before and they were okay nothing to write home about. I had read the reviews on Amazon and EBay and they seemed positive so I bought the book.
The main character Emma Corrigan, is instantly relatable, she is a normal 25 year old who has a few secrets nothing major. She has a office job working for Panter Cooperation and she's trying to build her way up the career ladder for that long awaited promotion.
At the start of the story she's in a relationship with Connor and to everyone they seem the perfect couple but to Emma something's missing and she isn't sure what, until she meets a handsome shy stranger on the plane. During her flight the plane has turbulence which causes Emma to panic and spill all her secrets to the stranger unaware that they may met again..
The first parts of the book are funny and I think any women can relate to feeling insecure and jealous at times. I found parts of book a bit bland to read at times but it wasn't too bad.
My favourite parts of the book were when she tried to spice up her sex life by trying to seduce Connor in a spare room in work, another time was when she made a show of herself in the meeting with the company executive.
I was not expecting the twist in the middle though! What a actual shocker. From the start you get one idea of Jack that he's a proper nice person, only to find out he's a proper snake and you shouldn't trust everyone even when you think you can.
Once Jack spills all of Emma's secrets live on television she feels as if she's been used as research to sell a new product this part makes you doubt Jack because you feel as if that's the truth and that's what he planned to do all along when in fact this isn't the case.
At the end everything I once thought about Jack changes because he opens up and realises what he's done, I actually felt a bit sorry for him.
I really liked this book and couldn't put it down to be honest I didn't think I'd enjoy it would I did and will be purchasing another book by Sophie Kinsella very soon! I would deffo recommend this book to anyone looking for a funny light hearted read.
