First Attempt

So last night with a little help from my boyf we decided to make a cake, nothing special just a Victoria Sponge. I wanted to do this because one of my life ambitions is to become a cake decorator and have my own business. After nipping to the shops to get some ingredients (self raising flour, baking soda, jam and icing sugar with sprinkles) We researched recipes online and found one which was okay.

Here's what we used.

It's safe to say we have a long way to go before we're considered 'okay' after making a mess of the bases, the icing was nice though! Will defiantly be using that recipe again it tasted lovely and sugary but it wasn't too overpowering just a nice hint of sweetness.

In the future I'll be using parchment paper for sure and learning how to remove the cakes from the tin without butchering it. I am also going to start experimenting with different flavors my favorite is Red Velvet. I've also decided to dedicate one day a week to baking and making new stuff and learning and making loads of mistakes.

Think next week I might make Smoore's as they are gorgeous and not as popular in England or a chocolate cake the choices are endless.

Time to show our very bad first attempt it can only get better, she says in hope!
